I remember when Iowa was one of the bluest states, I was proud to be from there. Now... I'm kind of ashamed of it honestly
I am honestly jealous that people remember this time. I moved to Iowa in 2016 and love everything about this place outside of the state politics.
There was a shift. I went to my small town festival, a place where the most politics I had ever seen was maybe a stall with a candidate talking to people. Last time I went there were people with giant flags, shirts, so many oakleys, and just making such a big deal about it. I never went back to it, it got so loud that we couldn't even enjoy a festival without them coming out to yell at everyone. Everyone got so angry so quickly.
Yeah, I've definitely experienced the same. It's unfortunate as it's pretty cool to actually live in a state where you can actually meet candidates. I've also met so many wonderful people, despite the politics. I am here for the long haul (bought a house and everything). Hopefully it shifts back eventually.
Eh, nothing to be ashamed of.
Is it your fault the Iowa Democratic Party has grown incompetent?
Is it your fault partisan politics is getting more volatile and detached from actual important issues?
Look beyond the partisan politics and Iowa still has much to enjoy. There's tremendous opportunity to make of the state what you will.
yeah, I'm not in Iowa anymore lol, it was just nice before when I could proudly say that we were one of the first to legalize gay marriage. Now people like Kim and Grassley are national embarrassments and if I mention Iowa that's what people think of
Iowa
Is this heaven? Hell no, it's Iowa.
