You can use any client you want guys . Lemmy wins

[-] FehrIsFair@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago

Probably the first comment that doesn't bash on anyone since this whole thing started.

Don't forget Connect! It's probably the most complete Lemmy app right now. The "About Instance" function is amazing for getting a list of communities on a given instance with actual working links for subscribing.

For folks curious, !infinityforlemmy@lemdro.id is the Infinity fork community. Dev is quite active :).

Using Connect:

[-] XpeeN@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 years ago

Have a link? Is it open source?

[-] Havald@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

It is not open source. Apparently the creator is considering making it open source once he's cleaned up the code a bit. For whatever that's worth.

Wait, what's wrong with Jerboa? I'm using Jerboa and it's been great so far

[-] Radioactrev@reddthat.com 10 points 2 years ago

I've been flipping between Jerboa and liftoff. Unless I'm missing something Jerboa doesn't have the downvote arrow. Not that I ever downvote anyway. But besides that, I think I like the feel of Jerboa better.

Sort options seem better in liftoff though (again, unless I'm missing something in Jerboa).

I'll probably give infinity a try now because of this post.

[-] lelgenio@lemmy.ml 39 points 2 years ago

Your server (https://reddthat.com) has disabled downvotes, jerboa respects the server's settings.

[-] Radioactrev@reddthat.com 11 points 2 years ago

Aha! That's good to know. Thanks!

[-] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Jerboa definitely has a downvote button lol

[-] Radioactrev@reddthat.com 4 points 2 years ago

Well, I went searching for it again, just to downvote you. πŸ˜‰ But still can't find it.

Beats me. 🀷

[-] FellowHuman@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 years ago

Jerboa doesn't autoplay gifs (or didn't when I used it), that what made me stick to liftoff and I don't regret it.

[-] GravelPieceOfSword@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 years ago

It kept crashing randomly for me.

I tried all the apps I memed out at some point or another (and we're all Reddit refugees I presume).

I had frequent stability issues with Jerboa, switched to liftoff, which was far more stable. UI wasn't the prettiest, but reasonably nice. Gave sync a brief spin, wasn't very impressed, and ads/data collection wasn't appealing. I stuck to liftoff till I found infinity had been ported to lemmy.

I'd used infinity for Reddit for years, same experience on Lemmy now, loving it!

[-] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

I'm still waiting for Boost for Lemmy to come out. Maybe I'll try Infinity though if it's a great as you say

[-] thesqueakywheel@lemmy.one 4 points 2 years ago

Ah, a fellow Boost enjoyer. That was my favorite Reddit app by far.

Ah man. Infinity just hits different.

[-] nwithan8@artemis.camp 16 points 2 years ago

Tried Jerboa, Sync and Thunder (and Artemis + web app for kbin).

Sync seems the most polished because it came from Reddit, but the fact that you can't post in Sync right now makes it really hard to dig in and dedicate to it.

Thunder feels like a more polished version of Jerboa, but I'm not a huge fan of the Material You design and big iconography in any of these apps (I came from RIF, so I'm used to basically early 2010s UI, lol).

Artemis is unevalautable right now given its severe alpha state.

And of course, lemmy.world is having connection issues, so none of the apps really "work" right now, no fault of their own. At least Thunder seems to cache old data, since it's populated when I open it, versus Sync which can't make a connection.

[-] emeralddawn45@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago

Try connect, I recommend it highly.

[-] Frederic@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

What do you mean cannot post in Sync? I'm using Sync since day 1 and can post, like this comment

[-] Faceless@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

But sync can't submit new posts yet. Only comments.

[-] cufta22@programming.dev 7 points 2 years ago

Welcome to the lemmy apps great war

[-] And009@reddthat.com 4 points 2 years ago

The war has just reached a point in infinity

[-] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 years ago

I'm stuck on phase two. Digging it, though.

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 13 points 2 years ago

Jerboa has been criticality underrated since its first or second post-exodus update. I've tried almost all of these (and Connect) and other than when .world is having issues but still reachable by Voyager, I use Jerboa.

[-] merfolk@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

Was using infinity on Reddit and was waiting for a good fork for lemmy. Really feels like home now.

[-] GravelPieceOfSword@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 years ago

Same. Liftoff was/is a great backup though!

[-] nostalgicgamerz@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

I'll stick with Connect, thank you.

[-] emeralddawn45@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 years ago

I started with jerboa a few weeks ago and really wanted to like it most, but then I tried connect and never looked back, it was so good and polished before all the other apps were even barely usable. I haven't found a single issue with it so far.

I am in love with infinity too. Only problem I have, it lacks some Lemmy features, adding pictures to comments or showing down votes etc.

Liftoff & Voyager are my companions.

Infinity makes me feel like nothing has changed

[-] jao@lemy.lol 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I am using Infinity. It has been working great so far. It is one of the most themeable Lemmy clients I know of.

Using Jerboa still. Nice to have it from F-Droids official repo. Did use Infinity for Reddit before I deleted my account around aweek before the protest. But only the Reddit version is there currently

liftoff and infinity are great

[-] kratoz29@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

I just can't decide between Sync and Voyager.

[-] notExactlyI20@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Rn the state of Infinity for Lemmy feels mostly complete (aside from a few expected bugs built from being a fork working with a totally different API), but besides that, the app is absolutely fire. I was a heavy IfR user in the past and it even convinced me to make an account (I was mostly a lurker) but when spez starting treating 3rd party devs like shit I gtfo there, just hoping that docille or another dev would have forked infinity and yet, here we are.

[-] ArseneWenger@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 years ago

Honestly my biggest complaint is that so far only Sync seems to have a built-in browser. I don't like having things redirected to my browser.

[-] BetaDoggo_@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Infinity for Lemmy has the option to open links with an in-app browser or with an external one.

Dumb question... I went to beehaw.org on my mobile browser, and clicked "install". Which app does that mean I'm using?

[-] gothicdecadence@lemm.ee 10 points 2 years ago

You're using your browser and the beehaw website as a PWA (progressive web app)

[-] CraigeryTheKid@beehaw.org 5 points 2 years ago

thanks. so I guess I need to try out one of the actual-apps. Just when I thought I was keeping up with the cool kids...

[-] gothicdecadence@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

Haha it's a valid way of using Lemmy (and other websites!) but yeah, in the meme they're all android apps. Some are on the play store, some are in beta on github. Not sure which of these (if any) are available on iOS. There's also Connect which some people like. I prefer Sync personally, but Liftoff is pretty good.
