Personally, this makes perfect sense to me.

Johnson exemplifies everything the UCP stands for: Unrepentant and unapologetic bigotry, hatred, authoritarianism, and abuse of others.

Basically, this isn't a surprise. Smith is now saying the quiet parts out loud.

Is there any chance this will get the UPC voted out, though?

If not, it also reflects poorly on the voters in Alberta.

Then again, given the last 50+ years of Alberta's electoral history, it seems to take a lot to get a non-conservative government elected.
