Image description: The main entrance of Toombul, looking through to a gutted interior. The area to the right of the main entrance, that used to be the bulk of the shopping center is now just open terrain, with several pieces of construction machinery gathering rubble and scrap

Priceline, Kmart and Westpac, the stalwart holdouts against the ravages of the dozer!!

Long may their dark vacant premises hold fast! No CAT treads shall be allowed to pass, no Komatsu bucket will scoop these bricks! Hold fast, hold true, let the dozers' blades break upon these sturdy walls!

I dont even remember the last time I went to Toombul. Prior to it getting shuttered that is.

Was it actually a bustling little centre before it got wet, or was it already on the way out?

It spent a long time circling the drain, but then they spent money on it. The cinema re-opened, and they built a whole new open air dining and bar precinct on the upper level near the cinema. That got it bustling again, and it felt alive for the first time in a long time.

And then the covid lockdowns happened. And then the flood.

And that was the end of that...
