[-] distantsounds@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Opossum, not possum.

[-] amio@kbin.run 31 points 1 month ago

my/me

hmmm....

pronouns are none, do not refer

[-] MechaGrima@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

do not refer to me

...And that's what we programmers call a memory leak!

[-] istanbullu@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 month ago

My native language (Türkish) does not have grammatical gender. Gender in grammar is just silly and useless.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

That's part of why I just use They in English for everyone. Less having to learn people's whatever; I don't care. You're cis male he? Don't care, you're a they now. More room left in brain. We can fix this shit right now.

[-] istanbullu@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

We do have a distinction between singular 'they' and plural 'they'. It's helpful.

[-] Emerald@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

You’re cis male he? Don’t care, you’re a they now.

Now you're back to not respecting peoples pronouns

[-] ArmokGoB@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

I don't have enough bandwidth to remember everyone's names, let alone their pronouns. This is the compromise.

[-] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

No. Language needs as many possible structures and rules as well as millions of exceptions and oddities so it is really hard to learn.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Based and ottoman-pilled

[-] shiftymccool@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

I can't agree more

[-] botorfj@lemdro.id 2 points 1 month ago

average O enjoyer

[-] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

Also, please do not observe me. Or make any sudden moves in my vicinity. I am feral and have anxiety

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

This is like the chicken game, isn't it?

[-] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

I do not use pronouns, and I don't think you or they should use them either.

[-] cooopsspace@infosec.pub 6 points 1 month ago

I, you, they, them

Based

[-] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 8 points 1 month ago

AceFuzzLord can't wait for the use of all pronouns to be banned and English papers won't be legally allowed to use basic words such as "I", "Me", "You", etcetera. That'll teach the libs!

what, which, who, whom, whose, this, that, these, and those, everybody, either, none, and something,

Amongothers. It's ironic conservatives know so little grammar that they can't even add "personal" to before "pronouns" to make it at least slightly more accurate, but no.

None ate the cabbages. None then went home full and happy.
