What was Funtoo?
It's been ages but I remember Funtoo as a kinda quirky, opinionated (I think/hope that's the right term? ๐ ) fork/offshoot of Gentoo by Gentoo's originator that was intended to do things in ways deemed more sensible and allow more authority by the user. The only specific thing I remember is they dumped systemd or at least allowed building a system that didn't use it.* ๐คท I only tried it once and not for long so that's all I've got, sorry ๐
* Very bad memory on my part, should probably have just said something something systemd or such ๐
That's essentially it, but Gentoo has never required systemd.
Hmm. Fears of it being required? Irritation at it being the default? I'm sure there was something ๐ Ugh, now I'm embarrassed and feel like a fake Gentooer v.v
Wikipedia says Funtoo doesn't even support systemd ๐ค I guess that was it. ... Kinda weird to not support it at all but whatever, I guess. Gentoo take me baaaack ๐ฅบ ... When I've got a system that won't melt if I try to build anything on it ๐
Welp, I guess that decides for me whether I'll be going to Gentoo or Funtoo once I get a real box again. Seems kinda odd to just end it like that. Whole distro's just over now? :-\

At least hand it off to someone instead of just letting it die facedown.
Handing it off to someone creates a whole new set of second hand responsibility, if the new maintainers go on to add something malicious.

The creator was shunned until everyone figured out he had handed it off to someone else.
If someone wants to continue, they can always fork it.
