Im actually happy that fuchsia basically got axed.

It would have been devastating for free software if google decided to replace android with their own (permissive) system with closed source components baked in.

Not to be overly dramatic, but any initiatives from these major tech companies (doesn't matter which one) should be treated with absolute skepticism.
