When you can get a resin printer for less than the cost of some of the sets, wtf were they expecting?

[-] SCB@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Frankly I'd rather buy sets than spend even more time staring at grey plastic. I also like supporting companies that sell me cool shit.

People 3d printing will always be a small dent on the bottom line, which is what makes it so harmless imo

If you look a little deeper (and, truly, only barely under the surface), it's glaringly apparent that not only is GW not worth your affection, but it has actively worked against its fanbase's interests as a foundational element of its business model for decades. Secondly, despite the 3D printing demographic being a negligible dent in their bottom line, they still act like a bunch of greedy shits and allege ownership of anything even remotely similar to grimdark scifi โ€” as if they own the entire genre.

p.s. Their endless, juvenile bullshit is precisely why One Page Rules not only exists, but is straight up slaying it. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ

Youre certainly entitled to your opinion but I am not uninformed. I just disagree

[-] Piecemakers3Dprints@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

These are not opinions, friend. They're facts proven over decades of GW's consistent fuckery. They're known for it, worldwide. Don't fanboi so hard your fingers can't be removed from your ears without surgery, FFS.

Liking a company isn't being a fanboy. Insulting people who don't would be.

I am quite capable of making decisions about things I like.

Some people can't imagine wanting to pay the price asked for to keep making the cool stuff in spite of the tradeoffs.

[-] SCB@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I can definitely understand that. There was a time when I refused to buy anything GW made because I didn't like how they were operating.

I like their changes tho and I'm in a position where supporting them isn't a huge hit to my wallet.

This is your daily reminder that it's always morally correct to pirate GW minis.

You wouldn't download a car...

[-] Piecemakers3Dprints@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Yes, everyone would.

[-] Wats0ns@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

I would 3d print a car if I could though

[-] Piecemakers3Dprints@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Only GW and their frothy fanbois think so.

[-] snor10@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Is it downloading the model or actually printing they regard a crimes?

Does it matter if it's for personal use?

[-] Piecemakers3Dprints@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

They don't offer any digital files of their content, and yet they fanatically attack ANYTHING even slightly space trooper-ish (not to mention star elves, genetic/insectoid alien, corrupted version of similar, etc.), and don't seem to give a single fuck about threatening frivolous lawsuits โ€” their bottomless pockets are enough to crush any sculptor with the stones to create in "their" genre.

Fuck GW. Print all the things!

(To make it all that much worse, they're notorious for discontinuing/banning models without notice [much less any refund] and that's not even touching on the ridiculously overpriced low-quality schlock they tout as their "style".)

Support your friendly, local 3D printer who happily takes commissions for One Page Rules compatible models. Ahem. ๐Ÿค“

Is that original image from peep show?

Love it. I finally binged it recently after only seeing extracts for years. Any recommendations on what to watch next besides that Mitchell and Webb look?

[-] fearofthedark@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

A slightly obscure show that I really enjoyed was Johnny Vegas' Ideal.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

Haha just watched an extract, that also looks deliciously British, getting great recommendations that are going on my watchlist here, thanks everyone.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

Mate I'm having such a blast with this. This show is HORRIBLE haha, in the best way, love it/hate it. Thanks for the reco.

[-] fearofthedark@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Glad you like it, always a pleasure to share.

[-] HubertManne@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

have you seen black books or spaced?

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

I've seen (and adore) spaced, but not heard about black book, I'll check it out!

[-] theo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

It's made by the same fella as the IT crowd and Father Ted. Incredibly funny - shame he's a massive transphobe though.
