Who brings drugs to an all you can do drug party? It like bring a porno to a porno shoot.

[-] HornedMeatBeast@lemmy.world 44 points 3 months ago

My old housemate was heading to Amsterdam for the weekend with some friends and the one friend stayed over at our flat the night before so they could leave early and I shit you not she was asking what drugs to take with them. Through the damn airports.

We had to tell her to not try anything because she will most likely get caught and she'll most likely be able to get what she wants over there.

These people exist.

People are fucking dumb, what else can you say?

Like that dumb basketball lady who brought weed into Russia, what the fuck did you think was going to happen lol

[-] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 3 months ago

Brittney Griner, yeah it was dumb but that was more political. She probably been though there many times. They just chose to enforce it that time.

On the one hand, it's still super fucking stupid. We had to give up an arms dealer or something for that. On the other hand, I could totally picture Russia just arresting someone because they decided that they were wearing the wingy colored socks

Taking bags without your consent is kind of airport security's deal. They're explicitly allowed to do that.

[-] slazer2au@lemmy.world 52 points 3 months ago

well, what else do you expect if you take weed through an airport.

[-] dogsnest@lemmy.world 19 points 3 months ago

B-B-But it was "my security guy's weed!!! We told them!".

[-] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 months ago

I take weed through airports all the time. I'm pretty surprised Amsterdam of all places gives a shit.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 3 months ago

I think it's like Las Vegas and open container laws. It's a city ordinance that weed is allowed not a national one. And an airport is a national asset even if it is in Amsterdam.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 months ago

It's not a city ordinance at all but it is however quite complicated and lots of "grey areas", the stuff is basically illegal up until the point it magically appears in the coffeeshop, and then it's illegal over 5g. In any case traveling with it internationally is a big no-no even if it's between two destinations where it's legal. This is all very silly of course, hopefully with Germany going legal we're finally gonna start seeing some progress on the topic, if daddy Germany is ok with it the rest will likely follow.

[-] stoly@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

It’s really not as big deal. Nobody is going after it these days.

[-] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

This story speaks very much to the contrary.

[-] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

This story is an anecdote. As the person below says, it was the quantity that was at issue here.

[-] SteefLem@lemmy.world 37 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yeah thats usually how costums work if you have illegal shit with you (like 40 joints and shit) be glad it happend on the netherlands and not in england , they are wat stricter on weed them the dutch. Dumb plastic noise machine.

[-] GluWu@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago

Does the US not have any British war criminals they could trade for her? Russia got their Merchant of Death back for only a WNBA player that knowingly took drugs to Russia. Osama would still be alive if they had just kidnapped Tom Cruise.

[-] dogsnest@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

The US will table 36 bills in the next few days in a rush to protect her (she's Trinidadian), whilst ignoring genocide, homelessness, opioid crisis...!

OMG, did Taylor just twitch!!

About as much class as you would expect from Minaj

From the article:

Minaj took to X to update her followers on the dramatic events. "Now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls. Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my ig post down,"

[-] Evotech@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Must be nice to have a personal patsy

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 28 points 3 months ago

Fucking moron.

I absolutely love that she’s a “12-time Grammy nominee”. If she had ever won, they would’ve said that instead.

[-] Curdie@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It's pretty cool for an artist to be nominated for a grammy. I don't know anything about this artist other than recognizing her name, but it's legit to list those nominations in your credentials. It's a real accomplishment.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 6 points 3 months ago

True, I’m just being an ass because I don’t like her.

[-] Curdie@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

In that case, the grammies are just a private back-patting club, nominations and winners are meaningless anyway and Minaj is a talentless lip syncing influencer. All of which is maybe a little bit true!

[-] hogmomma@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I don't think I understand what you're getting at; it makes sense that they would've called her a Grammy winner if she'd won a Grammy.

[-] TammyTobacco@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 months ago

She's bragging about losing 12 times.

[-] hogmomma@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Indeed. Thanks!

[-] loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago

She called herself 12 times Grammy nominee?

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 24 points 3 months ago

Yeah police do that. Policing by consent is all very well, but it doesn't really work if it's at the criminals consent.

[-] thefool@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 months ago

Oh, no! Anyway

[-] Jackcooper@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Wait we can just tell cops we don't consent to them taking our contraband???
