Always has been. He's just trying to make his own gas station bathroom version of the extant MLM with his face all over it.

Yep. He's neoliberal and appropriately greedy and psychopathic about it, so he gets their rubber stamp of approval. He's even good for soaking up blame, misdirecting attention and drawing people into a cult where believing blatantly untrue things is how you show your faith.
If he slipped and fell and woke up a progressive, they'd tear him apart with a class solidarity we can only dream of.
