I still can't believe how warm and cute this community looks right now. Maybe it's because there are not so many people, but anyway I'm really happy to be here
Yeah I get a similar feeling from lemmy at large, much less toxic than reddit and everybody seems happy to be here, super glad I made the switch :)
Thank you <3 It means a lot that you get this feeling. I'll do my best to make sure it stays tat way and even gets better.
loving it so far :D it's been more fun than reddit for me because this feels more like being part of something instead of just a big rss feed. that's what reddit felt like to me and with so many people there are already people who have said what i want to say 20 times over. i hope lemmy keeps the grassroots vibe ๐
Thank you for running a server! I am worried though about server costs (including your time) as it grows, do you foresee this becoming an issue?
Hey there! Time will be an issue, not money since believe it or not it's not much. I'll share more details about finances if I'll ever need some form of funding. What I will need more of is other admins / mods that can help me keep this running.
Btw thanks for hosting ๐
I gotta say I'm liking the lemmy experience a lot more than my attempt at mastodon. Though I may have to give it another shake.
I'm glad you like it ^^
Check out furryfediverse.org to join a furry instance. You can join mine which is packmates.org and I promise you'll get a super furry federated timeline since we only subscribe to furry relays. You can still follow anyone on Mastodon, of course, but I found that as a furry having a furry federated timeline is much more appealing.
thats super cool!
I like the idea of the fediverse, maybe with reddit burning down we'll get enough folks to hit critical mass and it takes off.
Same, mastodon seemed like Twitter but with extra steps. And I don't use Twitter at all to begin with so I can't say I was very interested. I have always loved forum format though
Couldn't agree more, also for the future despite all their problems it would probably be better to set them up on Federated services. Non Federated ones like Tildes seem to have the same problem Reddit has when it comes to Management and infrastructure.
Yup! Totally agreed.
Happy to be here :)
It feels nice to try some new fresh communities, it can be hard to find ones nowadays that aren't old or packed full of people. I hope to make some friends here and at pawb or wherever else I look during thilese changing times :3
