Not to mention the shift in political attitudes in the last 10-ish years in the US aren't anything I feel the need to financially support with my purchases.

I can buy pretty much anything I want here. No need to subject myself to whatever indignity the border guards feel like causing just to buy beer and that one thing from Trader Joe's.
