I miss r/quilting and r/sewing. As a crafter, the knowledge I gain from these type of subs is invaluable
r/visiblemending 😔 the only kind of mending I know how to do, and I still had so much to learn!
Yup, that’s another one I’ll miss.
It is not so easy brother. Digg Failed Reddit succeeded. But now it seems like Reddit is failing will Lemmy/Alternative will succeed? Difficult to answer. For me subs like r/anime, subs related to documentaries, histories, journalism, expose and computers/software/hardware all will be missed if they remain dark.
Seems like no matter what, the communities that were on reddit are fragmented. Some people stay on reddit, some quit social media, and some get scattered across two dozen lemmy instances. What a shame.
I think there’s a quilting community here. Obviously not as populated as Reddit yet but it’s a start.
Edit: Maybe you already know about it but here it is, lemmy.world/c/quilting
Thank you! I did a search last night for quilting, but it came back with 0 communities. It’s probably me though, I just joined and am still figuring out how to use everything. I’m sure I did something wrong.
Don't worry too much about it. Everyone here seems so nice and understanding & things are changing and growing rapidly! There may not have even been a quilting community last night
I couldn’t agree more. I already feel much more welcomed and am not as hesitant to post comments in fear of the negative nellies. I’ve got a lot to learn here, but am loving what I see. So glad there’s a quilting community, even if there’s only a handful of us. I’m sure we’ll multiply quickly!
Subs for machining and electronics and CNC were not really good. Some 3D printing ones were maybe better. Would be nice to see good content like that here.
I learned so much from the 3d printing subs.
/c/!skookum@discuss.tchncs.de ... the reason my accont is on the instance.
Oof yeah I will miss r/VisibleMending real bad
