The country's second-largest city has been targeted almost incessantly since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

But this time was worse than usual, because, when rescue workers arrived at the scene, there was a second strike. Three of them were killed.

The following Friday, it happened again when Russian missiles hit Zaporizhzhia, a major city in Ukraine's southeast.

Rescuers and journalists rushed to the scene, and then two more missiles hit.

In total, four people were killed and more than 20 were wounded, including two local journalists.

Both the Kharkiv and the Zaporizhzhia attacks employed a technique called "double-tap" - when an initial air strike is followed by a second attack, killing rescuers trying to help the injured.

This would be a lot more meaningful if America didn't implicitly condone the actions when done by Israel or anybody on our side. As is, it simply looks hypocritical for Americans to criticize a war crime, while we take no issue with it elsewhere.

Where was the MSM calling this amove used by terrorists when Israel Triple Tapped an aid truck? It makes us look stupid at best and like outright liars at worst.

What does America have to do with this? This is a British outlet reporting on Russia and Ukraine.

Gotta spread FUD in the states somehow!

[-] Thief_of_Crows@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 months ago

Because America is funding the other side of the war. It really puts a damper on criticism of a country at war when the people they're fighting are primarily funded by people doing the exact same thing.

[-] affa@startrek.website 1 points 7 months ago

How can Americans get upset at this when they're funding a nation doing even worse?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

Well I can't speak for anyone else, but no one asked me if I wanted to give Israel any money or arms, so I'm not sure what you expect me to do about it.

[-] affa@startrek.website 1 points 7 months ago

Spreading the word that America is doing what Americans criticize others of doing is better than what you're doing now.

Heck, you could've just kept your mouth shut and that would've been better than what you're doing now.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

First of all, I do that all the time. I literally did that in my response to you.

Secondly, why is my opinion of any less value than yours?

[-] Thief_of_Crows@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 months ago

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

Okay, but this still has nothing to do with America.

Can you tankies find some new strategy?

Whataboutism and deflection is getting really boring.

[-] Thief_of_Crows@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago

It's not whataboutism if it is literally just as bad and also true. That would be more commonly known as "accurately comparing them".

[-] OKRainbowKid@feddit.de 3 points 7 months ago

No, that is 100% whataboutism. It's an attempt to deflect the discussion from the topic at hand. If you want to have a discussion about THING_THAT_YOU_CONSIDER_BAD_AND_ALSO_TRUE, you can make a new post just for that.
