I feel like he was probably joking and bragging about how high demand will be, and it is getting responded to like it's fact, and people are just eating it up.

I get it. He's an ass, but let's not all eat the onion over pretty benign jokes from a renowned troll.

Worker exploitation isn't funny nor is it benign. That's why worker rights are literally codified into law.

Oh Lemmy....

Who are you even talking to? This virtue signaling is so fucking tired on this site. Who is laughing at worker exploitation? Like seriously.

I said the guy was probably making a joke, as in he doesn't actually want people sleeping on a factory floor and everyone pearl clutches. He is a piece of shit but we don't need to make shit up that isn't real to get offended at.

I take it back. The joke is you guys.

How the fuck is this virtue signaling? Do you know what virtue signaling is? Do you think that I'm over here preaching about worker rights then go on and whip slaves in real life?

the public expression of opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or social conscience or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.

You must not, since you are asking and then talking about whiping slaves or shit. Maybe you were thinking I accused you of "projecting."

Anyways, my point remains. You chimed in and downvotwd to assert that, stating my belief he was joking was somehow bad. Coming to the defense of an imaginary victim to tell everyone how important workers' rights are when no one questioned it to begin with.

Now, next time, maybe you should check the dictionary yourself before asking if someone else knows the definition of something 🤔

Yup, more virtue signaling.

When someone jokes and there isn't a victim, but you make one up, that's an imaginary victim.

Just don't bother digging further. I haven't disagreed with anything you've cited or posted. I just think it's craven to keep replying to me as though I've said things I haven't.

It's been normal Lemmy though for the past month. It's like an echo chamber shaking itself into ruin. Everyone who used to pick fights with conservatives on reddit came here, and now they all eat their own without enough real targets.

First you said,

I feel like he was probably joking

Now you say

When someone jokes and there isn't a victim

Your "feel like, probably" became a certainty pretty quickly. How do you know Musk was joking? He was talking the same way when Model 3 production ramped up. He bragged that he himself was sleeping in the factory. I have already posted what happened as a result. Was not a joke before, was it? Now Musk says the same things and you're quick to defend him.
