MODERATORS
I'm a pokemon fan. These new pokemon-like games seem really exciting, because they are taking the pokemon formula and innovating in a way that Game Freak won't.
There are many complaints about the direction Pokémon is going. But people would just complain without directing to another game, besides their favorite classic pokemon game, or "ROM Hacks" without actually suggesting a particular hack.
As for myself, I was getting tired of the formula, especially as it shifted to more like a movie than a game with Sun/Moon. I withdrew from new Pokemon games until Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet, precisely because they add an advantage that the older games didn't have. I had a lot of fun with Pokémon Scarlet, in large part due to the open world, breaking the straight line trend of the past four gens. It still suffers from too many cutscenes and slowness (not just frame drops). I still need to really pour time onto Legends Arceus. Cassette Beasts and Palworld are high on my wishlist now.
