As opposed to the other genocide-supporter that's also a fascist racist?

Primaries and the rest of the year are for voting for and supporting the best possible candidates. Elections are for playing damage control and voting for the least worst option.

Don't let a lack of perfection be an excuse for choose Worse over Better.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 12 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

No, you don't vote for genocide-supporters period. I am appalled that is a controversial opinion.

Supporting a genocide is not "Lack of perfection". It's an abundance of evil

[-] ysjet@lemmy.world 58 points 9 months ago

Failing to vote is just another way of supporting the republican party.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 9 points 9 months ago

So not voting for Trump is a way of supporting the democratic party. Evens out.

[-] BassaForte@lemmy.world 34 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

It doesn't though, because you know for damn sure that every Republican will be voting for trump. If a substantial number of liberals don't vote for Biden, Trump wins.

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 5 points 9 months ago

That’s what they said when HRC won the popular vote, then the EC appointed the other clown.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 4 points 9 months ago

If they do though, then Biden wins. And then they will have voted a genocide supporter into office.

Are you training for the Olympics? The mental gymnastics going on here.

[-] criitz@reddthat.com 7 points 9 months ago

The other guy supports Israel just like this guy.

The choice for genocide or no genocide is not part of this election.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

Why participate in a rigged election?

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 26 points 9 months ago

In the real world, people will vote in their own self interest. If you're queer, trans, have dark skin, are female, or are an ally to those groups, not voting for Biden is functionally equivalent to voting for the orange turd who will support and encourage crimes against them.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 6 points 9 months ago

The harm reduction argument doesn't work if for the past 4 years individual rights have constantly deteriorated.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 20 points 9 months ago

Frame it however you want but there's still merit in voting for the guy who doesn't actively want to destroy you.

[-] Zorque@kbin.social 12 points 9 months ago

Which is, in a large part, due to the fallout from actions taken by the Trump administration.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 4 points 9 months ago

So best case scenario the guy is useless because he can't reduce harm.

[-] Chuymatt@kbin.social 14 points 9 months ago

Man, this is an immature take. The republican stacked judiciary has been the biggest issue for reducing harm in The US.

Do we like the support of the Israelis actions, absolutely not. But, when people tell you who they are, listen. Trump would be worse for everyone except his chosen few and the oligarchs. He has said as much.

If we had a more truly left option that would not put so many others at risk, I think we’d see a massive shift. That is our work during the next 4 years.

We just don’t have a good viable option this year…

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

Just like the last election, the one before that and so on

[-] Zorque@kbin.social 11 points 9 months ago

So if he doesn't have the magic ability to make everyone's lives better in an instant, he's useless?

The entire point of our system is that we don't have a singular person with absolute power. The reason the Trump administration was able to take the actions it did wasn't due to just Trump. It was also due to actions taken by congress and the judiciary.

This one office can only do so much, you need to vote in that election in addition to every other election you're able to. And it won't be a quick turnaround. Expecting magic to happen two seconds after stepping out of the voting booth once every four years is naive and getting petulant when it doesn't happen is dangerous.

[-] mathemachristian@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

Not an instant, 4 years. The slide into fascism hasn't stopped

[-] BassaForte@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Dude just admit that you're 14 and spouting your parents political views at this point. We were all there once.
