cause you know, president is the most important thing in the entire universe, always.

If you want to wield a a massive amount of global political and military power, it's pretty important.

Externally it is a powerful position, but can the president do much inside the US itself?

Pardoning and appointments seem to be the limits.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

You think that's all Trump did? Really?

Sorry... what on Earth does that have to do with your claim that the only thing the president can do inside the US is pardoning and making appointments?

[-] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Sorry. Wrong context.

So, what other powers does a president have? Us Obama as an example if Trump is distasteful.

OK. Emergency powers are pretty strong but the rest are largely external to the US.

For one, the president has the power to veto any legislation passed by Congress.

The power to preserve the status quo is not very useful.

Commander in chief of the most powerful military in world history and the largest and most productive economy is, in fact, pretty important. I don't really understand what point you're making, if any
