I have a very persistent paranoia that I've trapped my husband in a situation like that since I often get depressed and become "poor me" for days. Reading this was actually reassuring because I'd never do any of that to him. So one positive outcome of the novel you wrote is that you reassured me!
Your ex sounds crazy and I've always thought that scatological displays of power were the worst. I don't think I'd do that even if I were God because shit is gross. :(
