The true surprise in this case was how long it took. It was literally on camera observed by millions via TV or thousands in the stadium. How was there any room for debate?!

There was no debate about if it happened, I'm sure that the only internal debate was about the cost of keeping him vs protecting their own because that's their policy. Fuck them for taking so long though, I sure hope that this is a big economical hit for them.

It took both the women's and men's national teams going on strike to generate enough pressure for this to happen. The Spanish FA is seriously screwed up
