Finished everything up assembly-wise. Still lots of tuning to do, but I'd say this first print looks phenomenal for not having done any tuning other than Klicky+calibrate_z
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well mine printed with minimal tuning. I have a full set of magnetic panel clips printed now, so I'll have to see if I can get an "finished" picture posted tonight. There's still more to do (under bed filter/chamber heater, I want to reprint the panel clips and front door latches with somewhat different dimensions, I need to modify the spool Holder, and I need to do something for the rear panel vent), but... hopefully I can try a bigger print that's something other than printer parts soon.
Yup, still much to do on mine too. Bed clips, skirts, fans, led mounts, camera mounts... It's fun to tinker some, but I'll be glad when it's all calibrated and ready to print reliably. I've got some issues here and there with endstops I need to figure out.
Ha, totally agree. I suspect I'm going to quickly get to the point of "good enough" once the filter/chamber heater is in and I get the spool holder updated. I've had two prints fail mid print with zero extrusion. Manually pushing filament through the PTFE tube got it fixed. I'm betting the 3kg spool not rolling smoothly was the cause.
What's going on with your endstops? I had mine miswired initially, but they never worked in that state.
Two different problems. First with y endstop, and not really an issue with the endstop, more the cables. They keep wiggling out of the nook you're supposed to stuff them into, and that causes them to get pinched when homing. The cable is just thick enough that it prevents the endstop from triggering.
The other is Klicky, I get wildly different readings to the point where it just gives up because the tolerance was exceeded too many times. I've checked for loose screws, belt tension, etc., can't find anything obvious. I've basically given up on Klicky and ordered a Klicky PCB kit, hopefully that will fix it.
On the cable, have you considered hot glue? Most of it has a melting point well above 100c, so it should be fine in chamber. Especially if all it's doing is keeping some wires in place. I'm using a PCB xy endstop, so I don't have a lot of advice to give here :(
On klicky, I've had quad gantry level fail a few times as you've described, but it was always a mechanical issue. The first go round I didn't attempt to manually level after assembly and I guess it was too far out of level. I manually leveled somewhat square to the frame and it succeeded on the second attempt. The other times it failed were when I didn't have the ptfe tube installed and the spool fell off its holder and caused misstepping. Have you ever had a successful level?
Finally, on the spool holder. I am using a holder with bearing, but it was designed to sit on top of an I3 clone. There's not really a spot for it on the voron, so it's currently sitting on my desk. I finally figured out how to get the ptfe tube to feed from it, which has helped. The thing I'm running into is that the polymaker 3 kg spools are too wide for the holder, causing friction between the spool and the bolder itself. I've run a couple of other companies 3 kg spools on this holder before and it was never a problem. Then again, none of them were this wide. I'll have to measure the spool to see if it fits this holder.
With regard to Klicky, yup, I can get it to go through the whole QGL/bed mesh/Z-calibration process and get off a print I'd estimate about 50% of the time. It's mostly just consistency. I can probably increase the tolerances in printer.cfg, but I figure the defaults are what they are for a reason. I had trouble with assembling Klicky due to tolerances of the printed parts, and some of my magnets weren't perfectly flush. I suspect (hope) this is causing some wobbles in the probe itself.
I wouldn't increase tolerances, at least not yet. Maybe reprint the parts that deal with the magnetic interface on your voron? I've been reprinting the odd part as I get my printer further along and print quality improves. Another thing to look at could be magnet strength. I bought a bunch of "ultra strong" 6mm x 3mm neo magnets on Amazon for my panel mounts. They're strong enough for the job, but they're nowhere near as strong as the magnets west 3D included in my printer kit.

That's my guess with the 3kg, too. Probably need a holder with bearings. I plan on printing this holder (https://www.printables.com/model/513779-voron-horizontal-filament-spool-holder-w-608-beari) because I need something a little more forward based, I'll let you know how it goes.
