Where should I create new communities?

  • Wherever I have an account?
  • Wherever it fits thematically, like location specific instances or with a focus on a specific group of topics?
  • Wherever I want? Does it even matter?

I suspect you're only allowed to create Communities on your home server. Not 100% sure however, it has been a while since I used Lemmy the last time.

Yeah, you need an account for a particular instance if you wish to create a community on said instance. You could always create an account and add your main account as a moderator if you wish to host your community on a given instance.

That is what i am doing for !tmobileisp@lemmy.ml. tmobile is a US carrier and my instance is Canadian so its a bit odd to host it here

So you can have cross-instance moderators? Cool!

How do you even add mods? Can't see where

Apparently, you need to do so from a post or comment they've made on the community.
