Version 6.0.2 still works without paying. You can download it from F-Droid.

Yes, just tested it. I guess the app has API access but the paywall was not yet included in 6.0.2. It might get blocked at some point though.
Would assume so. The infinity devs are probably paying for the people using the app this way..
Can you explain that to me, please? I know someone who is still using infinity and I'm so confused!
currently writing this from infinity for lemmy (which also apparently and recently rebranded to Eternity instead of infinity for lemmy), it is a fork of the original for reddit and can be found here

as for original Infinity still working the dev said that it would still be working up until they release a version that would continue to work using donations for the API access but on the meantime the original is still working and accessible
