Pepe has a complicated history. I don’t think it reached that level though, IMHO

Its not all that complicated. Two of the three major points are linked in this thread. He was a chill member of Boys Club and repurposed into a whack of memes. Trump Pepe was added to the deplorables poster and the right wing grabbed him as a symbol. Matt Furie fought back and we are slowly reclaiming a silly frog.
