Artist Jingna Zhang built Cara, a platform explicitly intended to protect artists from having their art stolen by AI...and yet these people just won't leave them well enough alone.

Why? I wouldn’t call viewing a publicly accessible site stealing. It’s published to the public, therefore the permission to view it is given.

But even if you do want to classify it as stealing, so what?

Big tech is stealing our data constantly. I have no issues stealing things of my own. 🏴‍☠️

Explain your point.

I already addressed the fact that you have permission to view public sites.

You have permission under the condition you watch the ads.

If that disclaimer is shown to the user before they enter the site then yes, that would be stealing.

Not sure I’ve ever seen that disclaimer, but I’m sure it exists.

Not really sure what your point is, this isn’t that complicated of topic.

Are you under the impression that stealing is always wrong, and there is zero room for nuance and grey area? That would explain why you can’t wrap your head around this.

It's in the terms and conditions, and the cookie pop-up.

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
