Some fields fluctuate... Like, kids hear that engineers are in demand or whatever, and sign up to uni for the job prospects, but so to heaps of others, so 5 years later when they're done, the market's already stabilised and now there's an oversupply...

Probably not most of those fields you mentioned, but it's still something to keep in mind.. Don't pick something that's only recently gone up in demand.

Yeah, comp sci is rough right now. The entire industry is extremely toxic. There’s a reason the old “this repo is archived; have taken up farming” meme resonates so strongly with programmers.
