Laundry machine kept stopping because it was unbalanced

I picked out this... thing. The duvet cover had eaten everything in the machine and turned itself into a postmodern textile art piece.
Ya I always have to ball up big things I pout into the washer so it doesnt suck up all the other smaller things I put in.
Something sad Ive also found is that when this phenomena occurs sometimes the big articles suck up all the detergent juices and water and prevent the smaller , trapped inside it clothing from getting sufficiently cleaned
The big eat the small and hog resources meant to be shared by all. The sad parallels of society in the laundry.
