I’m an EE at a major electronics developer and manufacturer. My company’s IT encourages Linux use and even gives us the option to decide what distribution to install, though RHEL is the only one they “officially” provide tech support for. I’ve been running Debian as my daily driver for several years.

I’m rambling and completely missed the point of your comment. I’m just happy we have that option and wish they supported it everywhere.
