@Quokka I remember this. He explicitly said that world hunger couldn't be solved for $xBillion (I forget the exact number of billions) but if someone could prove him wrong he'd fund it entirely from his personal wealth. It was meant to be him justifying keeping his billions. Then someone costed it for less than the figure Musk quoted (I think it was the World Health Organisation) and published their plan publicly with costings. Musk didn't keep his end of the bargain.
Imagine that, you have to be a special kind of cunt to see a plan toend world hunger and not do it. Imagine being the guy that foot the bill, Idk how that didnt sing to a Narcissus brain but okay. These people are fucken ghouls and vampires.
I can't even think of a expletive strong enough for Musk. Like what was the final number, something like 10% of his net worth or so? Heck even if it was a whopping 50%, he'd still have more than $100bn left. How can anyone say they're not gonna solve world hunger even tho they could. Fuck it, even if Musk had to give up all of his possessions and end up homeless, he should still do it for the greater good.
(Assuming, naively of course, you can just magically solve world hunger with a few billion dollaridoos)
Oh it wasnt magic, but it was an entire plan that probably would've definitely reduced world hunger greatly. But we'll never know cause imaginary numbers matter more.
Yeah... well... guess we'll have to keep rounding up our purchases if the rich ain't gonna do shit. /s
Can we try piñata economics?
so whacking everyone who's richer than you? that's just anarchy but with more violence
Piñata implies it is full of something. Not everyone richer than me is full.
Narcissus? You mean the 16 year old who didn't want to have sex or get married, so Nemesis cursed him to fall in love with his reflection and die?
What's your problem with aroace kids?
Furthermore if you're looking for a Greek villain to equate Elon with, choose Theseus. Theseus was a creepy pedophile who got tortured by Hades because he sucked even by Hellenic standards.
And America is his ship
There's no one exact figure, the total cost would vary a lot based on how you did it. If you're just buying food it would be about 6-10 billion per year. But just handing out lots of food has economic consequences. The more effective methods of infrastructure investment, and local agricultural and trade development would cost up to $250 billion a year.
@meat I'm not an expert in world hunger, the WHO on the other hand do have expertise in this particular domain. I don't recall the details of the published plan. I do recall that Musk refused to engage with the agency that made and published the plan.
If you publicly offer to fund something if someone else can come up with a plan under a budget you both specify, and can afford, it's not a good look to refuse to fund the plan when it is created.
