Rules:

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

MODERATORS
The inflation on luxuries has far outpaced the 'normal' rate.
Tickets to the 1960 World Series were about $10.00, 2025 prices were over $500.00.
Same thing with concert tickets, or other live shows.
Ticketmaster and LiveNation are predatory and ruined the music scene. Same with every other unregulated large company
They took advantage of a market that was relatively easy to corner. Big centralized music venues aren't easy to manufacturer. Smaller venues experiencing exploding real estate costs aren't competitive. Talent is far more fungible than the venues or the marketing teams or the financial networks that handle payment processing.
The dirty secret about someone like Taylor Swift is that she could have been anyone. She's a good singer, but not that good. And she's got a massive team behind her handling the promotion and the touring. She's been more than willing to play ball, so she gets to headline all the most expensive events. But if she ever gets out of line, her brand tanks and a new pretty blonde starlet emerges with a deafening audience of enthusiastic online fans.
So long as musicians don't control their own labels, their own venues, and their own promotional organizations, the simple talent for making music isn't enough to generate and command a large audience.
I used to go to concerts quite often. I can't even understand how anyone can justify let alone afford most tickets these days. Like who are all these people paying $1000s for World Cup tickets?
Smaller acts are still $30. They aren’t on ticketmaster.
You can get good seats for big bands cheap, too ..if you wait till last minute or you get lawn seats.
I got lawn seats to Offspring last year and honestly was the best time I've had at a concert.
