You're right. And it would be so simple to just drop the G and make it Image Manipulation Program. They could even use the same impish logo!

They could, but they never will though. Chiefly because someone asked them to and, after stamping their feet like Veruca Salt, the devs have resolved to never ever stop pouting about it.
Someone could fork it, with just a different name. ๐
