No the cycling thing, get off your high horse. Comparing your choice of transportation to experiencing antisemitism? Get over yourself

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 22 points 6 days ago

Which one leads to violent deaths? Which one is therefore, more important?

[-] StarvingMartist@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Kinda delusional but you do you I guess

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 12 points 6 days ago

Delusional is talking about something that's manufactured propaganda in order to get you on board with Israel, despite it doing genocide in the middle east.

Better to pay attention to a real issue, cyclists dying in our streets.

Lemmy is such a shitty place sometimes. Being against antisemitism and being against Israels crimes are not mutually exclusive. They have, in fact, nothing to do with one another.

Sure. But if you read the original post, it's about someone saying that jews are not safe in Canada. And this is then contrasted with how bicyclists are being killed in Canada but jews are not being killed. Directly contradicting the presented narrative.

So then you might wonder: why did someone feel that Canada was unsafe? And you'll find that the answer was "because they heard a few people criticize Israel."

In my own experience, the people saying "jews aren't safe" or "this is antisemitism" often aren't jewish or representing any jewish people; they're just pro-evil.

I can't speak for Canada. In Germany, Jewish people are at higher risk of harassment than the general population. Synagogues have armored doors, panic rooms and police around them, especially on Jewish holidays. Much more cyclists die every year than Jews. That doesn't negate the problem of antisemitism though.

Transportation is rarely a choice. At least, not one made by the user. Being a cyclist is more political than being jewish.

I'm sure it is if it's all you get upset about, that's quite a privilege if that's your biggest concern in life

[-] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

If you just want to hear your own voice, you don't need to be inconveniencing the rest of us with it.

Sure, let me know how those bike camps affected your great grandpa. I'm sure him and mine would really bond over it
