IMO any date standard other than ISO 8601 is wrong too. Year-Month-Date makes the most sense from a chronological standpoint. Also makes sorting files by date easier.

That used to be what letters were expected to have in Germany but because nobody actually stuck to that law they made it optional, instead also allowing the much more common dd.mm.yyyy which is almost as acceptable in my opinion.

It's only useful for storing data, in the real world you want to know the day and sometimes the month, is very rae to want to know the year

Something tells me that ISO was created to make programming easier. Time/date stuff on computers are a menace in general.
