It's a choice. We have the internet and unlimited knowledge. If people are still stupid, it's because they choose to be.

Could go into a philosophical debate about the illusion of free choice here. But long answer short, brainwashing and social conditioning are very, very hard to break. Religious trauma wouldn't be an entire specialty of cognitive behavioral therapy if it were like swapping to skim milk.

I've been in situations where, when trying to find the answer to a question no one knows the answer to, I'll suggest we look it up, only to be met with something like "or we could just have a conversation like people".

There's quite a bit of tech aversion going around.
