New leather boots! (lemmy.world)

I just bought some Duckfeet boots for these flippers, and I can't help but love them. I love the colour and the comfort, and there's so much room for toes.

All of my shoes are either dying or not fitting well, and because adulting and becoming more environmentally conscious, I wanted good quality shoes that will last and can be resoled.

I'm still a bit conscious that they are not shaped like a "regular" shoe and that I'll stand out, but I'm at the age now where I'm saying more "Who cares, and if they do, why do their opinions matter?"

"Marble"y pattern isn't as prominent now after I've conditioned them, but they're still pretty and cute.. 👉👈

As someone with very messed up feet, these look like heaven ... do they rub on your ankles at all?

Right now I'm enjoying being a convert to clompy sandals that let my toes roam :-)

Oh, they're so good. Depends on where you lace them - I like it on the second from the top so it has a little more give when a take steps, but you can also lace them third from the top and they're also great. Really comfy, but I just find that my feet slip around a little more without the lacing up the ankles. Though in saying that, maybe the leather is just really stiff still. I haven't worn them all day, just for a few hours when I get home.

I also love sandals and that's all I wear in the summer. If I remember, I can come back with a reply in another month or two to let you know how I go after breaking them in. :)

Edit: Didn't even answer the question, really. No, I've got enough room that the boot doesn't rub on my ankles! I do wear long socks with them, too. Just did a walk around the lounge to confirm. Perhaps the leather is softening, because they were stiffer last week. Finally.

If my experience with motorbike boots is anything to go by, decent quality leather that takes a while to break in will last really well :-)

No worries on the review, I need ventilation for my messed up toes, so wouldn't be looking for the exact same sort of thing ... plus I'm guessing these are American, so not easily available to me

Yup, I'm hoping the same. Once they break in, I'm hoping to fall absolutely head over heels for them.

These boots are from Denmark! Found them here in Australia, so yes, the price is higher than likely anywhere else in the world coming from that far away, but so far, worth it. :)

Oh awesome, I'll go and see how much they are here then!

Edit: 240€ ... thats a spicy meatball! Hmm, maybe when I've moved house off the mountain then. Because the rocky trails here chew up shoes like nothing else :-/

Danish. You can get them thru the EU. Also in the US, they have a bit of a niche, cult following here.

Then hope is not lost!

Thank you :-)
