Which IMO is very odd, considering the OG Xbox is quite literally just an x86 PC and at this point has been cracked wide open.

Common misconception. It's not a PC. Many of the components are close to standard, but their implementation isn't. Lots of proprietary shenanigans going on. It also lacks a typical BIOS, which alone makes it not an x86 PC.

I know, but it is based on standard PC components of the time, which made it ripe for mods, including installing Linux... Several friends of mine had the OG Xbox, and all were modded. One of my buddies still has his, I'm trying to convince him to resurrect it 😂
