The initial news was luckily for us quite overblown if it really just turns out to be a 24hr wait to permanently install third party apks then I'm pleasantly happy with it.

Still have a Graphene Pixel setup in a drawer for the inevitable day I'll need it

Yeah for now. Googles also forcing their captchas to only work with official android software. If its not one way theres another way. Google has a million tenticles independently acting at once. You cut one off theres 4 more that where doing stuff you couldnt even consider could happen.

Also developers still need to register and give out their ID. What if someone makes an app that alerts you when ICE is going to break into your home? Now the goverment knows who the developer is and lock him up for 180 years for terrorism. This is still a loss for us, and in line with googles goals. Google is still taking steps forward and will not stop. This is a constant fight.
