Granted. Civilization and ecosystems immediately collapse as everything is in a constant state of climax. Hundreds of millions of people die in car, airplane and even train crashes. Rest is going to die soon due to cardiac arrests, dehydration and kidney failures.
how does that minimise suffering? I can think of a more minimal state
You never specified a duration. The suffering here could be minimal relative to the immense pleasure of the human species shortly before death
I'd rather say that pleasure is simply too great to notice that one's about to flatline, so people just go like that.
