I think you and I are used to seeing "life choices" as a canard used to rationalize psychopathic public policies (just-world fallacy), so it is a red flag. That's not to say that personal responsibility doesn't exist, of course. I just reject the idea that the fact that we might help someone who "doesn't deserve" help is a reason to help nobody.
Even if you're Just Some Guy rather than an institution, you're still a pile of shit for punching down. "I didn't recognize this character flaw before having a child with this person" oh well you deserve to die while I spit on you then. This is a disgusting culture.
In the context of the exchange, it just sounds like a Reddit Atheist branded Marine Todd clapback.
Just a fake FFG exchange intended to generate cheap upvotes.
