I have literally hundreds of pics of Morty and his friends. Morty was a rescue who has mostly been re-wilded, but still stops in to say hello once in a while. And sometimes he brings friends.

Him and two brothers were orphaned when mom got hit by a logging truck on the highway. Every rehab facility we called refused to take them, and all but one advised us 'just let them die'.

We fostered them for a bit and then a friend who had done raccoon rehab in the past took over. Sadly his two brothers passed, but morty fought and stayed strong. He was re-wilded almost two years ago now and makes his way back down here to our place two or three times a month and stays for a visit and some treats then lumbers back into the woods with his girlfriend.

Aww, poor babies. ๐Ÿ˜”

There's a number of reasons places may not be able to take them. Many are really small operations, they have capacity limits, and not all are licensed to work with all species. It is odd anyone would suggest letting them die though. We get enough of that talk from other people...

A 33% success rate is honestly not bad from stats I've seen, so you guys did well for not having support. No wonder you know how to feed him so well! You seem to have done good by him, and I'm glad he got a second chance on life thanks to you!
