Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just looked it up and he's just an investor, not the owner.
He's still involved with the company though but I wanted to clear that up so we aren't accidentally spreading misinformation ๐

And if it is successful, how long before he sits on the board?
Yes but the company is Amazon through and through, its being led by ex-Amazonians
