Okay, but it is a job. Yes, we could solve all our plumbing problems together, but is just far more efficient to have dedicated plumbers.
The more interesting question is how to set up a system that, relatively speaking, produces politicians that aren't as massive assholes. Less shitty systems provide some hints on how to go about it.
Are they more of an asshole than other people? It's the role that makes the assholeness seen.
There are already solutions for every problem. We know what we have to do, we just don't do it. Nobody can make us do it but us.
In general yes, the kind of people who become politicians don't tend to be the ones who should become them. However, it is possible to curb the worst excesses.
That's... inspiring, but not very helpful. By analogy, crime can be solved by getting together and just not committing any more crimes. While self-evidently true, it is not an actual pathway for solving crime.
Why not? Crime is determined by the environment. If society adapts, crime could be massively reduced. No politician needed.
Because it is not a concrete roadmap for those required societal adaptations.
Then it has to be done without a roadmap.
