How come we never hear about Ukrainian drones missing their targets and killing civilians?

My guess it's because even consumer drone technology allows for enough precision and there's really no "accidental" killing of civilians if you choose your targets properly.

In other words, Ukraine wants to destroy Russia's military capacities, Russia wants to terrorize Ukraine/ians.

But I'm sure some (no need for naming) will fundamentally disagree with my admittedly layman analysis.

Bonus: this pic of Holy Putin hits hard.

Listen, fuck Putin and Slava Ukraine your analysis is mostly sounds, but civilians are definitely getting hit and I wouldn't generalize or gloss over the loss of life

A bus being hit https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp3peyykxd5o

A school with children casualties https://news.un.org/en/story/2026/05/1167579

But while this is a protracted war where civilians are still being hit, we can see how accurate both sides can be. Meanwhile Israel is carpet bombing and calling it precision strikes.

I follow /r/UkraineWarVideoReport on reddit and you do see it from time. The difference is that those drones are flying straight when they hit a building (looks like navigation error), not diving towards a target, like the russian ones.

Last time there were ~~fine~~ immediate attacks tankies instantly started blathering about how it was uncouth to attack civilians.

I asked them about how many casualties there were in either side. They got quiet surprisingly soon.

But somehow the good guys will always be held to higher scrupule, and that's ok. They will one again show that terror attacks in civilians only will strengthen resolve, target than break it.

fine attacks

I'm trying to reconstruct what maybe your autocorrect deconstructed but I just can't. What are "fine attacks"?

[-] Akasazh@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I wrote direct, but immediate is more apt so i changed that.

I assume he means finely/precisely picked targets. Not randomly throw some bombs at a city kind of attacks

After the first st Petersburg attack, there was a bus with civilian passengers allegedly hit by Ukraine. It does happen, but I'll believe it was not intentional coming from Ukraine. That's just Russia's favorite past time though.

my assumption is that generally you dont want to target anything that dont hold strategic value. missiles are v expensive. any misfire that affect civilian either has been shot down, dud or unreliable intel.

i wont say that certain nation actors that see terrorizing civilian is not a strategic value but in a long term if they dont see any effect they will stop doing it. i personally dont see any benefit even if i purposely demonize them.

case and point. the US bad intel striking school is a blunder that rallying the iranian to their government. im sure the US doesnt want that, the russian is well versed in this and undoubtly understand more than i do.

no matter how bad the ukrainians want to strike st petersburg or moscow. IIRC they hold back to minimize the martyr effect and combined with their arsenal basically given by westerner with a caveat.

In other words: yes, Russia is doing this entirely on purpose. There's no "accidentally" hitting Romania instead, etc.
