Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

Is there any reason to include that the man was Sikh in the headline besides Sikhphobia?
The man was specifically allowed to have a ceremonial dagger due to being a Sikh. The Sikh claimed he had been attacked over racial motives, which led the police to discount what the student was saying. So multiple parts of this were very much based on the man being Sikh. You couldn't properly cover the story without mentioning the fact, so it's not surprising it's in the headline
Well the murder weapon was literally a kirpan, so I guess that could be relevant.
See this article contradicts others I've read where it's said he used a different, longer blade for the attack and not the kirpan.
The knife used doesn't look like the typical ceremonial kirpan.
I don't see the knife in this article.

Regardless of the tool, the person in question has killed an innocent human being. They must face justice like any other would for this misdeed.
To provide context and information.
Tbh I was surprised he wasn't Muslim. The headline I intiitally saw didn't mention his faith but I saw the thumbnail and noticed the turban and was like hang on is he Sikh.
Why the fuck were you expecting him to be Muslim?
The headline I initially read in the Guardian just said "''religious' knife". And in general any real or imagined criticism against Muslims can result in extreme intolerance including violence.
More so than other religions do you think?
