90% of it is just misandrist bait, and its just an echochamber of misandry.

maybe post some examples of what you find distasteful, OP?

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 15 points 19 hours ago

He wouldn’t be able to misrepresent what that community actually is about if he did that.

man vs bear gender war garbage

and what man has been alive for centuries? you talking to nosferatu?

[-] Nibodhika@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Dude, chill out, neither of those are misandry.

[-] EpeeGnome@feddit.online 22 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

There's a distinct difference between hateful rhetoric and good natured blowing off a little steam, and the examples you give are very clearly in the latter category. I take no offense at these posts because I know that the sort of men they are talking about very much do exist, and I also know I'm not one of them. It's ok they didn't add an addendum remembering that other sorts of men exist; not everything has to be about me.

Also, by taking offense at these posts, you are literally acting out the the second one right now. Got to appreciate the irony of it.

Edit: I forgot to say, the "for centuries" bit is obviously referring to it being ingrained into our cultures.

Is comedy illegal now? We can’t laugh about choosing the bear?

You found two shitposts. Congrats. Thanks for ignoring the majority of the content that’s actually there.

[-] LadyMeow 14 points 18 hours ago

Don’t you see? Men are so HURT by the bear thing! You just have to choose the man! Come on da lil bear is so scawwy, how could you possibly choose that?

Do you think it irks them so much because it’s true, and they can’t admit it? It’s like every time they bring it up it proves the point. Insane.

[-] mech@feddit.org 10 points 17 hours ago

This bear thing is so funny. I'm a man and I'd rather encounter a bear in the woods than a stranger man.
You can learn how to prevent or protect yourself from bear attacks in a 4-hour training.
With a stranger, you have no idea how he'll react.

the actual essence of the community and the thoughts and ideas are reflected not in your posts but in your ideologies

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 16 points 18 hours ago

Let’s see you bring this energy to any of the multiple shitposting communities that are majority male.

Let women have our spaces. It’s the only community that’s ours. Women are allowed to be upset about how men at large treat us, how they rape and beat us, how men laugh at our genitals, our hobbies, our passions.

We’re allowed to talk about our lives.

[-] billnyethescienceguy@piefed.world 2 points 18 hours ago

theres no mensstuff community, but I do call out sexist content when I see it, be it misogynistic or misandrist.

[-] finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 18 hours ago

Frankly, this reads in the same way as All Lives Matter arguments. The default for most online spaces is male. You went and found one of the only comms where that isn't the case and got offended that it didn't cater to you, then cherry picked a few shitposts/joke posts to support your misogynism.

Also, there actually are communities for "men's stuff" like dullmensclub.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 10 points 18 hours ago

That’s because the men’s stuff community is all of the other parts of the fediverse.

[-] billnyethescienceguy@piefed.world 1 points 18 hours ago

women are allowed. and I doubt its mostly men either.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 10 points 18 hours ago

Lemmy is absolutely majority male.

lizlemonmegaeyeroll.gif

Very impressive that you can divine the essence of a community, not reflected in posts, just by reading a bunch of posts and making assumptions about them. That's a neat trick.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 9 points 17 hours ago

Don’t you see that a gathering of women without male escorts is expressly forbidden on Lemmy?

We can’t be trusted on our own apparently.

Women, am I right?

Every time ladies get together it's always "I'm tired of being treated like an object of sexual gratification! I am constantly barraged by unwelcome harassment whenever I'm alone in public! I deserve to be treated like an equal member of society regardless of my appearance or your feelings about it!" Blah blah blah.

Calm down ladies, just because we continually elect to ignore you doesn't mean we didn't hear you the first time. Next you're gonna tell me you deserve to vote even after you get married to a man and take his name. Typical hysterical women.

the reasoning, circular, etc.

[-] Return_of_Chippy@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago

I don't see these as genuine misandry I see them as jokes used to cope with a shitty world state. I post a ton of memes with similar intent. I'm curious to see if you have examples of genuine blatantly anti men content that has zero intent of humor.
