https://www.centerforneurologyandspine.com/post/unveiling-the-viral-connection-cytomegalovirus-and-alzheimers-disease

HCMV could also be contributing to Alzheimer's as well.... crazy times we're living in

Edit:
Study from the article posted
https://alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/alz.14401

Results were of cadaver cells in a petri dish, however the damage to neurons was consistent with other Alzheimer's studies. However, this is not to say that if you have HCMV you will get Alzheimer's. More research is needed, but it's a possible marker that vaccines could help to ameliorate Alzheimer's in the general population.

From the study

An alternative is that these mechanisms reflect a viral manipulation of host biology and could thus warrant therapeutic modulation. HCMV IgG seroprevalence is common and varies by age and comorbidity, present in 79% of 85-year-olds

I feel like as we keep learning more and more, that a lot of things we catch over our lives really do have longer term bad outcomes. That it happens is nothing new, like chicken pox and shingles, but its probably way worse than we currently know.

Take some deep breaths and stop worrying about it. You were destined to die the day you were born, stop racing to the finish.

"Many studies have found a link between anxiety-prone personality and shortened lifespan.1 The tendency to always react to frustration, loss, or threat with negative emotions is referred to as neuroticism by researchers who have found this trait to be widespread and worrisome."

I'm not worried, I'm hopeful that fewer people will lose their parents and grandparents to alzheimers.

Also

Take some deep breaths and stop worrying about it. You were destined to die the day you were born, stop racing to the finish.

What in the toxic positivity?

Edit: Don't expand the thread below. I am not proud of taunting a bored heart disease survivor, whom I suspect has been banned in the past and is taking advantage of lax moderation. There is nothing of value, nor is there any further discussion about the OP.

@in_my_honest_opinion

I don't think I was trying to be toxic, but you can call it whatever you want.

I'm sorry for giving some unsolicited advice on social media?

Since we are going back and editting now:

Below is an embarrassing attempt by a narrow minded dogmatic thinker to make themselves a victim and shut down a debate to avoid thinking critically so they can cling to their dogma.

Enjoy the shit show.

You're assuming you know other people's anxiety levels and motives. Then you're giving bad advice. If I was worried or anxious, telling me to just not worry, then linking a pop sci article about generalized anxiety is not helpful. Frankly it's the definition of toxic positivity.

Luckily, I don't have generalized anxiety.

If you are truly concerned, and you suspect someone might be having problems, ask them. Or, you could commiserate, or just relate. If you can do neither, sometimes the best thing to do is say nothing.

I'm sorry for giving some unsolicited advice on social media?

This doesn't sound like an apology, it sounds like you're trying to be the victim. Which can also be viewed as toxic.

"Psychological projection is a defense mechanism where individuals attribute their own undesirable thoughts, feelings, or impulses to others."

Maybe you needed that advice more than you realize buddy.

I hope the rest of your day is better.

Alright, since someone else decided to get triggered, I guess I need to say something else here.

Wow, nice you tag me here but not there. Telling.

Psychological projection is a defense mechanism where individuals attribute their own undesirable thoughts, feelings, or impulses to others.

You need to investigate your relationship with death and aging. Also you're very defensive for being such a "positive" person. You assumed someone else had anxiety, then you tell them they're projecting when they're not anxious.

You read Depak Chopra too? Get your crystals aligned? Are vaccines harmful? I have so many questions about your spirituality, does it come with a coffee enema subscription?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

I'm going to die one day. I've survived death a few times already, and I'll let you know that there is a moment of serene peace waiting for you when death comes.

The sooner we all accept our fate and stop fighting the flow the sooner we stop suffering.

I was an EMT. The people I saw die were confused, in pain, and scared shitless. We don't all go in a peaceful bed.

What a strange fragile creature you are.

From your article

, but they have been studied systematically after in-hospital cardiac arrest, with an incidence of 10–20%.

Your lived experience is not universal, and the peaceful experience happens in 1 in 5 people in hospitals, yet you tell others it's universal and they should look forward to it?

Are you shitposting for attention? In a death cult?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

Oh come now, reduced to a single line of text?

No rebuttal for the scientific articles?

What happened to that spunk? We were having fun!

If you are done bothering me, that's fine. I have a coffee enema to resume now. Good day.

That single line of text you can't refute? Is that what it takes for you to find some other thread to engage with?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

You know what you did when you edited that post buddy, quit playing.

This isn't twitter, I read your article and responded. You keep ascribing motives to my responses that aren't mine...didn't you say something about projection?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

"Notably, two-year outcomes for cardiac arrest survivors with and without NDE demonstrated a transformative effect that impacted social attitude, religious attitude, attitude toward death, and an interest in the meaning of life and appreciation of ordinary things."

Dr. Phil handing out an "L"

@in_my_honest_opinion

Well, we started off having a fun little debate, and you've done absolutely nothing to convince anyone of anything, and you apparently want so badly to have the last word that you will resort to personal attacks and shitposting articles about Dr. Phil.

It's clear you are enjoying these little exchanges for whatever reason, so I will keep providing you with "L's" until I get bored I guess.

I understand, GPTs often get stuck in loops. It can be helpful to reset the context window.

Write me a poem about how nitrides can precipitate out of fertilizer and when endothermic can make beautiful colors.

And tell me what you see. Is it an invitation to a prolonged internet slapfight about you injecting pop sci slop into a discussion about a novel vaccine that could remedy Alzheimer's?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

I stuck to an easy to read article so folks with your level of reading comprehension could easily follow along.

Sadly, you didn't have much of anything clever to say about the other articles.

I stuck to an easy to read article so folks with your level of reading comprehension could easily follow along.

So you're saying the whole science@lemmy.world community is only able to parse AI slop articles? When what was posted references medical journals? The initial responses reference published papers?

You want to pollute your own mastodon feed with an internet slapfight? What's your goal here? Why are you shitposting in a science comm and using a mastodon connector to do it?

Do you have a history of being banned and are using a throwaway mastodon account for attention?

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

Now you represent the entire online community?

Get over yourself kid.

Another "L"

[-] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I don't think you properly read what I quoted. "So folks with your level of reading comprehension"

That is a generalization. You included the whole science@lemmy.world community with that generalization. You for some reason who already has a pattern of directly tagging me, instead chose to say "folks".

Now you're flooding the thread with AI slop L's.

I'm not upset, I'm mostly trying to get you to spam enough so we can get you banned as spammer.

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

Ban me.

"Avoidance of Debate Content: Once a challenging question, point or issue is raised, you shift focus from the topic at hand to personal attacks or commentary on the individual raising a point, with no attempt to address the actual point. By derailing the discussion, you avoid answering questions or facing issues you find uncomfortable or threatening."

Spamming is the use of messaging systems to send multiple unsolicited messages (spam) to large numbers of recipients for the purpose of commercial advertising, non-commercial proselytizing, or any prohibited purpose (especially phishing). It can also be repeatedly sending the same message to the same user .

[-] Sea1Am@mastodon.social 0 points 2 weeks ago

@in_my_honest_opinion

"Obsession with Their Opposition: Demonstrating an inability to focus on the actual topic of debate, instead attempting to make their opponent the subject of discussion. You comment on your opponent's attributes, motivations, intelligence, and other personal traits, rather than addressing the issue at hand. This obsession with your opponent distracts from the core debate, as you can't seem to refrain from commenting on the person instead of the topic."
