Even in Japan, where I never really heard of anyone really bothering about the problems in other countries, people have taken notice and started holding protests.

Israel is literally committing worse than genocide. It's a holocaust. There's no denying it. It's the systematic extermination of any Arab or Muslim people in the area.

I teach a middle aged accountant English, and we never really talk about politics but he brought up the US attacking Iran and Israel's atrocities out of the blue during one of our lessons. He said he was really sorry for bringing up politics, but I was extremely impressed to see someone in Japan have a stance on world politics (other than being anti China and anti Korea lol).

I think you're absolutely right. Even Japanese people are starting to notice.

I mean the atrocities Israel is committing is of such incredible inhuman cruelty, that I don't think anybody can't be emotionally affected by it. Except for Israelis apparently. And not even all Israelis. Many are protesting their government and want a stop to this unbelievable violence.

We haven't seen a holocaust of this scale since the Nazis.

We haven’t seen a holocaust of this scale since the Nazis.

The Cambodian auto-genocide under Pol Pot was much bigger, so was the Rwandan genocide.

But it's still a genocide regardless. And calling it a holocaust just invites nitpicking over particular details.

Pol Pot and Rwanda weren't directly aided and funded by most westerners tax dollars, nor committed explicitly and on daily video by their 'allies'.

Nitpicking over such details doesn't change the particulars.

Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were funded by the US AND China until the late 80's

Don't get me wrong, fuck Israel, but it is incorrect to say that Pol Pot wasn't funded by the west.

America supported Pol Pot in the U.N., yes, but the direct aid continues to be denied/mired in controversy, whereas the funding of Israel is an integral part of the American electoral system and not some backroom deal of the executive.

The difference in that alone, aid or not, is especially pertinent with Israel. It's not a denial of aid to the Khmer Rouge, but the fundamental nature of the aid to Israel that is different.

Oh, Pissraelis are affected emotionally alright. They celebrate these atrocities.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Not all. It's like MAGA in the US, minority rule by loud, violent fanatics.

[-] wpb@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That's manifestly incorrect. A pew poll conducted in march/april 2024 found that 39% of israelis believe the actions of the IDF in Gaza were "about right", and 34% think those actions have "not gone far enough". I'm no mathematician, but 73% is not quite a minority afaik.

In addition, in a nation that is at least a democracy for the superior race, I think it's fair to lay at least some of the blame on the electorate for the governments they elect. And for 77 years, every single government they have elected have committed atrocity after atrocity against the Palestinian people. I find it highly unlikely that for three quarters of a century, in a partial democracy, some minority has always won, every single time, despite the good intentions of the majority. It's just a completely incredible narrative.

Recent polls showed support from more than 70% of Israelis for what Israel was doing in Gaza.

Also open Islamophobia and Racism against Palestinians and Arabs in general is widepread in Israel, including almost all of their Press.

They're a White Jewish Supremacist state (as can be seen by their treatment of Black Jews who moved there from Ethiopia) with many decades of continuous indoctrination about how superior they are to everybody else (including White Christians, by the way) and how the people whose land they're stealing are inferior, violent and even "vermin".

Unlike NAZIs in Germany, Zionists in Israel weren't stopped in the 1940s, so unlike the former this ethno-Fascist ideology has continued indoctrinating the population since the 40s and their "Western values", unlike in Europe and even the US, are still mainly the white colonialism of the end of the 19th century.

By this point Israel needs the equivalent of the denazification done in NAZI Germany, only better done, or to disintegrate as a nation with the entire territory of Palestine becoming a multi-cultural multi-faith nation in its own right.

I saw a random guy posted in the shopping district of Kyoto with an "end genocide of Palestine" sign. Bibi is burning down Israel's global standing to stay out of jail
