Anyone else feeling the Easter long weekend gets the worst traffic of the year? (mander.xyz)

Typically if I'm visiting my family the drive is about 2.5 hrs. On some public holidays, Christmas included, that can be 3 or 3.5 hrs.

Today I cancelled my trip after being stuck in traffic 20 minutes with an estimate of 4.5 hrs total for the trip. It's insane. I remember similar times from other years too. Only this time with this petrol situation I'm just not doing it.

I don't understand why??? Is this the only long weekend of the year? What gets into people's minds?

Only 20 mins? I got stopped in 2 hours after a pile up...

I think this year has been hard on people, and are using this time as a way to say "well we probably won't be able to drive soon, so let's do a small trip this one last time.

It's also an easy 4 day long weekend if you extend to Monday and start of school holidays too! The powers combined and everything is nuts.

I'm sorry to hear that... I only got stuck 20 minutes because I turned back before entering the motorway. I thought that once in the motorway it would be an eternity before an opportunity to exit.

Ahhh the start of school holidays. That probably is the missing piece of the madness puzzle I didn't keep in mind. You are probably right. But still... Insane.
