That's some great OpSec right there :/

[-] errer@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago

Not exactly a secret that we’re deploying troops and they’re gonna be there a while

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'm just worried for the troops. The fuckers sending them are ultimately responsible, but the troops should have been warmed not to expose themselves to danger like this.

[-] HiddenLayer555@lemmy.ml 39 points 2 weeks ago

but the troops should have been warmed not to expose themselves to danger like this.

Wat? Pretty sure they knew what they were getting into when they signed up for the fucking army.

[-] Twongo@lemmy.ml 29 points 2 weeks ago

they joined voluntarily. f them.

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Not every body joined to carry out a fascist regimes whims, some joined before and are contracted for years. Some people have no option but the military if they want to have health care for their kids. It's an unfortunate truth that many good people are in the military because it's the only way to provide for their family, and a blanket fuck all military members statement shows just how ignorant and stupid you are.

[-] Twongo@lemmy.ml 24 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

sorry you feel that way. the us has been a terror state since at least ww2 and has terrorized people all over the world for decades. every place they entered was left in shambles and millions of people are worse off and suffering due to the usa's actions. trump didn´t change the trajectory of american foreign politics and warmongering. america didn´t turn fascist over night. it's only now that a president makes life worse domestically in a very blatant fashion.

after your statement you are not in the position to call someone "ignorant"

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ok and where do you live buddy? It is ignorant to act like everybody in the military is there by choice. When the choice is to let your family starve and die of preventable disease, or join the war machine do you see that as a choice? Is letting your family die an option you keep on the table? 2 of my siblings would not be here today if not for my father's health coverage in the military. Not everybody grew up in well to do families that had options, some took the only opportunities they had and to day that's a choice is pure ignorance. This helps your children have a choice, instead of a grave stone. And the fascist movement in USA really has taken off in the last decade, go watch a George bush talk when he was president. He sounds like a lefty by todays standards with how far the Overton window has shifted. And no I am not justifying the endless stream of "military operations" the USA has partook in, but to compare what's going on today to what military action looked like 20 years ago is just silly.

What do you actually know about Korea? Vietnam? Iraq? Yugoslavia? Afghanistan? ...

Only someone as privileged as a USian could say something so completely wrong.

[-] Twongo@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

can´t add more to this. thx for saving me the headache of writing paragraphs.

Almost as if there are other jobs out there besides military. Or do those not count?

Also, the fact you think Bush sounds like a lefty further highlights your own sheer ignorance.

Every US soldier is an evil piece of shit.

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 weeks ago

2 of my siblings would not be here today if not for my father’s health coverage in the military.

How many other people's siblings aren't there anymore because of what your father helped carry out?

[-] EmmiLime@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah... only way to have health care for your kids is to blow up other kids. The only way to provide for your family is to provide death to other families.

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

So you are familiar with the American nightmare? Why do you think so few have kids anymore.

[-] EmmiLime@lemmy.ml 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

You cry and call others privileged who have experienced US-backed coups, invasions, sanctions as a collective punishment to starve people, to force countries that who have been taken over to put in severe austerity measures so that people work for fuck-all so that it can be exported to YOUR country for cheap!

And you?? You are crying how oppressed you are? Motherfucker you are not sleeping without a worry whether or not you would wake up after having hour home blown up. You are in fact privileged just from the fact you are living within the Empire that is the US.

Then you justify people joining the military forces that are the ones imposing these terrors onto the global south. You are one depraved and oblivious person. Listen to what the others are saying and read a fucking book for once.

Hint: You can live within the imperial core and still acknowledge your own privilege. I know I am privileged by living in a NATO(Nazi) country.

[-] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 weeks ago

And do you not care about the families and children in the countries they plunder and rape?

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Most people are more worried about their immediate family than strangers. But yes I do care, and fortunately it's not a call I have had to make but I literally couldn't have kids if I wanted to unless I joined the military today. Too bad the echo chamber here has never had to make a tough call! Maybe they could relate if they had to struggle and grow up poor.

[-] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 18 points 2 weeks ago

The "echo chamber" here includes people who lost family and friends to US invasions, f off

You think growing up poor would make me feel bad about them signing up to kill my family?

DEATH TO AMERICA

[-] hamid@crazypeople.online 16 points 2 weeks ago

I hope every US soldier returns in a box

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

I know that comment can only come from pain. I hope you can heal 🙏

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 16 points 2 weeks ago

There is something so much more nauseating, cowardly and despicable about lacing therapy language with hatred instead of just telling someone to go fuck themselves

[-] 9skyguy0@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 weeks ago

Every single one of them participate in or abet the acts of aggression, crimes, and atrocities carried out across the many conflicts the U.S. is participating and has participated in. As has been pointed out, they help facilitate the killing of civilians, many of which are impoverished.

The fact they're joining for the benefits does not excuse them in any way.

The very last part of your last sentence is a confession.

[-] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Most join because they're rapists and they know rape is legal for soldiers.

[-] lorty@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago

The US, specially internationally, has always been a fascist regime.

[-] eldavi@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 weeks ago

domestically too, but only if you don't look/act/think like the privileged group.

[-] hamid@crazypeople.online 19 points 2 weeks ago

US troops are suckers and losers

Operational Security. I.e. securing information related to deployments, plans, attacks, strikes, etc etc etc.

Controlling access to any information that could be used to gain intelligence on troop/ship movements, locations, timing, etc.

For an older example, here's a cartoon short about one Private Snafu.
