They are a lemmy instance dedicated to the facilitation of piracy, and copyright infringement in general which is illegal. It is by nature in violation of the rules of your instance which prohibit illegal content, therefore it is imperative that you defederate it in accordance with your policies.

Torrent files also aren’t illegal.

Also, you’re on the internet, which isn’t beholden solely to US copyright laws, so unless you’re a lawyer who specializes in international copyright law, I doubt you can speak with any certainty to the legality of post content in every jurisdiction across the globe.

Here’s an idea: if you don’t want to see that content, block the community.

They are illegal when they contain copyrighted material like games or movies, which is what those contain, they literally say it.

Also, you’re on the internet, which isn’t beholden solely to US copyright laws

It's illegal in the US and either way it's against lemmy.world's server rules, specifically rule 1

No illegal content, including sharing copyrighted material without the explicit permission of the owner(s).

I think you're defending it because you're a pirate.

Torrent files do not contain any copyrighted material and it’s not my job to educate you on how they work.

I dont really give a shit why you think anything.

You're arguing semantics here because you know that I'm right, a torrent doesn't literally contain a movie file, but it is used to fetch the copyrighted movie file. It makes you look bad when you make these stupid flaky arguments just because you want to keep access to your filthy pirate site. You're not even on lemmy.world how does this concern you at all?

(PS I already messaged Lemm.ee admins about this issue, they're looking into it.)

You know what people tend to say when they’re wrong?

You’re arguing semantics

The law is semantics you dolt.

You’re not even on lemmy.world how does this concern you at all?

“Bungiefan_ak@lemm.ee” is a weird way to spell “lemmy.world”

You can keep replying if you want to keep getting dunked on, your funeral.
